Abstract
The electronic structures of CdTe/ZnTe core/shell structure quantum dots (QDs) has been investigated using the single-band effective mass approximationand first-order perturbation approximation theory. The electronic structure of CdTe/ZnTe QDs is a typical type-II band structure, andthe electron and hole carries would be localized in the core and shell regions respectively. The overlap integral of wave function of them and bandgap energy vary with the changing of core radius and/or shell thickness due to quantum confinement effect. The electronic and optical properties could be tuned by varying the size of QDs..
