Abstract

Bismuth vanadate powders were prepared by the hydrothermal method at different pH values and different hydrothermal time. The materials were characterized by XRD, SEM, XPS and UV vis DRS. The photocatalytic performance was evaluated by the degradation of methylene blue. The effect of pH values and hydrothermal time on morphology and photocatalytic performance was discussed. The highest photocatalytic performance on the degr adation of MB was observed under pH=1.0 and hydrothermal time=12h for ms BiVO4. It is concluded that the excellent photocatalytic activity of ms BiVO4 samples at low pH and short hydrothermal time was associated with lower band gap and unique morphology..
