Abstract
Y
doped LaMnO3 powders with doping ratios of 5%, 10%, and 15% were prepared by a solid state reaction method and
tested as microwave absorption material. X-ray diffraction measuring results indicated that the powders possess a perovskite
struc ture at all doping ratios. The average size of the powders was approximately 3 μm according to scanning electron
microscopy. The complex permittivity and permeability were measured at X band (8.2-12.4 GH z) by a vector network
analyzer. The dielectric loss ta ngent (tan δ ε), magnetic loss tangent (tan δ μ ), and reflectivity frequency curves a re presented.
10 at% Y doped LaMnO3 with a thickness of 0.8 mm had an effective 10 dB bandwidth of 3 GHz, and the highest absorption
peak (45 dB); this is comparable to the chara cteristics of other advanced manganate based microwave absorption materials..
