Abstract
GdVO4:Ln3+ (Ln= Eu, Dy, Sm) microstructures have been synthesized by a facile solvothermal route. X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), photoluminescence (PL) and kinetic decays were employed to characterize these samples. The results show that the as-synthesized phosphors are of high purity and crystallinity. SEM and TEM results indicate that the sample consists of quasi-spherical microparticles, which is composed of numerous tiny nano particles. Under ultraviolet (UV) excitation, GdVO4:Ln3+ phosphors show their strong characteristic emissions due to an efficient energy transfer from vanadate groups to the dopants..
