Abstract

The Sr 2 B 2 O 5 :Eu 2+ phosphors were synthesized by high-temperature solid state reaction method. The crystal structure of Sr 2 B 2 O 5 : Eu 2+ is monoclinic system with space group of P2 1 /a(14) and the diffraction peaks positions increase slightly with the increase of Eu 2+ d oping concentrations concentrations. The excitation spectrum locates at UV region and consists of a broad band from 200 nm to 264 nm and a little excitation peak at 355 nm. The emission spectrum of the samples is a broad asymmetric band peaking at 469 nm corresponding to the 4f 6 5d 1 to 4f 7 transition of Eu 2+ ion The best concentration of Eu 2+ ions is 5 mol%. The concentration quenching is caused by the dipole dipole interaction and radiation re-absorption of Eu 2+ ions..
