Abstract

The (Y, Gd)BO3 :Eu3+ phosphors were prepared by co-precipitation method combined with ultrasonic disperse with Y(NO3 3 •6H2O, Gd(NO 3 3 •6H2O, Eu(NO 3 3 •6H2O and H3BO3 as the starting material, oxalic acid as precipitant. The samples were characterized by thermo gravimetric analyzer, X-ray powder diffraction and Vacuum Ultraviolet (test system for plasma display panel. The (Y, Gd)BO3 :Eu3+ phosphors are found to have the best luminous performance at 611 nm with respect to intensity and color purity under VUV excitation. At the same time, the (Y, Gd)BO3 :Eu3+ phosphors prepared by co-precipitation method show high crystallinity, high distribution and good luminescence intensity.
