Abstract
A solar light-activated TiO2 photocatalyst was synthesized by the surface modification with 1-(2-Pyridylazo)-2-Naphthol (PAN) at low temperature (80 ℃). The X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) showed crystalline powder of anatase TiO2 was achieved and the UV–vis absorption of TiO2 modified by PAN was greatly extended to 540 nm. The modified TiO2 photocatalyst exhibited much better activity than bare TiO2 in the photocatalytic reactions, 70% of the CR
was decomposed by TiO2-PAN after 5 hours under solar light irradiation..
