Abstract
Al
uminum doped TiO 2 in an aggregated sphere form was synthesized by sol gel method. Graphical spheres were used as
template to prepare the aggregated 0.1%Al TiO 2 spheres. Anatase TiO2 in the preferred orientation of (101) plane is the sole phase in all the samples. Increasing calcination temperature leads to enlarging cell volume and growing crystallite size. BET
surface area of the 0.1%Al TiO 2 reduces from 37.0 m2/g at 400 o C to 3.4 m2/g at 600 o C. The 0.1%Al TiO 2 calcined at 500 o C
has the maximum photocatalytic activity. 43.6% of the total number of RBR X 3B molecules is decomposed after 30 min of illumination. The apparent reaction rate constant i s 0.031 min 1 o f the 0.1%Al TiO 2 sample . Decoloration efficiency i s reduced
from 100% to 80% after five photoca talytic cycles..
