Abstract
This paper presents the results of research regarding cracking causes of a driving wheel made from microalloyed boron forged steel. Researches include analysis of two samples: first from a rolled bar (forged material) and second from cracked surface. The following methods and techniques for investigation were used:
- Visual examination;
- Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) examination for cracked surface of material and its adjacent area;
- Energy Dispersive Spectra (EDS) examination for micro-composition characterization..
Keywords
Forged steel, Scanning electron microscopy, Surface cracks.
