Abstract

Using polymerization method, Er 3+ doped and Er 3+3+/Yb 3+ codoped Y 2 O 3 nanopowders were prepared. Under 975 nm excitation, upconversion emissions of the samples had been studied in detail. Strong green upc onversion emission was observed in the 0.5 mol% Er 3+ doped Y 2 O 3 nanopowder. Strong green and red upconversion emissions were discovered in the 0.5 mol% Er 3+ 1mol% Yb 3+ codoped Y 2 O 3 nanopowder. However, strong red upconversion emission was found in the 0.5 mol ﹪ Er 3+3+/ 5mol% Yb 3+ codoped Y 2 O 3 nanopowder. The preparation method of luminescent nanopowders will be helpful to developing luminescent technology..
